Today's "Rhyme of Passion" was about my family's yesterday. It featured my mom and dad from a photo circ. 1945. In uniform, he was all airforce navigator, later in life, actually to this very day, a navigator of different kind. A retired business man, a CPA, a lawyer, a real estate entrepreneur...a navigator of opportunity, of figuring things out, of making things happen, as well as, making money and caring for me and my three brothers. Like i said, even today, he is trying to navigate-but now the the insanity of the market, for not only himself, but for his fellow retirees who look to him for charting a viable course through this mess.
This photo is as timeless as it's invaluble to me. My mom died when i was almost seven of a heart attack, so me and my brothers had less time with her, as did my dad, than she could have ever imagined back when that dinner happened and the photo taken. Clearly timeless things have a way of happening in "real time", be it an early life photo when my mom felt sunshine and possibility everywhere, even years before any of her boys were born. But very special moments happen everyday, though because they do happen everyday they may not feel so special. But when you look back they feel timeless, because in the end, you had something special, timeless... even with less time.
The stock market was in the drain again today, my 401k(was clearly not, oK) my sons college/UMass forgot to call me offering a tuition reduction and so i was thinking about my dad, so i called him in Florida. Just to talk, from a man who has navigated tough stuff way longer than me! Let me say, it was a real talk, real serious. I have a feeling, one day i may very well look at those 15 minutes as timeless...could be in the next day or so!
