Thanksgetting!

Sometimes you "get what you deserve" and that normally is not about something you're overly happy about getting. That is not the case here. This year my wife Josana and i got exactly what we deserved, exactly what we dreamed about and thought and talked about...we got to adopt a dog who needed a loving home. More to the point who craved an insanely loving, overly committed mommy and daddy to give her the life she always deserved by clearly didn't get to live.

Because we got what we deserved, we have been able to focus our love, attention and energy on a very worth while part of our life, where as if the stars didn't align and Abby didn't find her way into our life or us in hers, other "events" this year would have been much harder to get through. But this Airdale of ours, our nicked named "ball-of-fur" (pronounced "Ballafur"- a nod to her Ivy League gunked schnoz "pedigree" past...and yeah, we know it's hair not fur) is squarely what this holiday tomorrow is all about. It's giving thanks, but it's also getting thanks. It's Abby "Ballafur" Medney. It's Sasha Medney, my Great Dane who i couldn't have loved any more in High School and who died in 1976 when i left for college. It's Josana's Cupie Siegel Wire Hair Fox Terrier and Poxie Siegel Airedale and another of her beloved childhood dogs i can't seem to remember (and she's out with her also beloved cousin, Larry) who we're her confidants and BFF (before there were BFF's) during her school years.

But on the eve of Thanksgiving, i at least wanted to put in the universe a "shout out" to the wonder dogs of our lives (the one's gone, never leave) and let the ones still out there looking for and deserving love to hang in, as many people like us, know and share your dreams. We give you all the thanks in the world for being the loving friends you so very are.  I have a good feeling, our new First Family will help you get what you deserve!

Pass the gravy, please!

(and would dropping "accidentally" a piece of dark meat kill ya?)

Abby "Ballafur"

About Cliff

It's about 1 to 10 and one per day. No, not the scale, or the odds or even the prison sentence, but a different kind of measure… I have One year until my Ten year anniversary of surviving a near fatal heart attack. Given I made through rheumatic heart decease as a kid and have been a insulin dependent diabetic for years, it's a special time and there's no way I'm not going to celebrate just how special it is and how lucky I am!
