Mother's Day is Everyday

by Administrator 10. May 2009 06:26

It might not be Mother's Day, the Hallmark card version of "Mother's Day" everyday...but, it is the reality that we use their special love, joyful care, let alone the effort, wisdom and support everyday of our lives. It is literally and figuratively part of how we are hard wired. Even with the best of intent by totally devoted and lovingly giving and committed dads, brothers or anyone, mother's are simply and uniquely irreplaceable. Everyone only has only one.

Spouses, if you're lucky, better yet, blessed, you may only have one as your special one. But you may find that special one, the second time. Role models, mentors, BFF's are to be cherished...but, we are bound to have many. Numbers are wierd that way. When talking about Mothers, one is the magic and only number. And, in a spouse you want to find the right "one"...hopefully, sooner than later in life . But one, as the song goes "would be the lonliest number" if talking about special people in your life.

So if you don't think about her enough, talk to her enough (if she is living or not), make-up with her enough- if you fight with her more than you should- go ahead, make Hallmark proud over the next 364 days and think of any of these days, as the real Mother's Day and share whatever like you did today. It's what almost any mom, i would imagine, would ever really want.

Below, is a poem called "There".  I wrote it several years ago about "my relationship"and feelings for my mom. I started thinking even more about her as my kids were growing-up. The "angel's hair" refered to at the end, belongs to Miriam Medney's grand-daughter, Samantha...my mom and daughter, respectively!!!

Happy Mother's Day...whenever!

Love to my always there and wonderful Step-mom Lois and my "couldn't ask for a better, more giving Mother-in-law" Ina!!!

About Cliff

It's about 1 to 10 and one per day. No, not the scale, or the odds or even the prison sentence, but a different kind of measure… I have One year until my Ten year anniversary of surviving a near fatal heart attack. Given I made through rheumatic heart decease as a kid and have been a insulin dependent diabetic for years, it's a special time and there's no way I'm not going to celebrate just how special it is and how lucky I am!
